205 NORTHGATE

THE PLACE I CALL HOME

Minimalistic Complexity

205 North Gate is a prototype case study I’m conducting, overseeing and building myself. From its design phase up to laying physical bricks; its a challenge I’ve decided to overtake on my own to explore the knowledge architecture school has taught me. It sounds radical but I plan to build this completely on my own with zero help from the outside world.

I took inspiration from the hideout, with the difference being the introduction of modern building materials that are available to anybody, such as engineered I joist, lumber, reinforced concrete and CMU blocks.

I have 2 years of building experience working in carpentry, 6 years of architecture school, and the internet to back me up. The project is scheduled to begin construction in early 2022 and will be located in a suburban area of PA.

Architecture software has made it easier than ever to come up with estimates. This was my own unorthodox way to find the most exact amount needed for materials cost, while giving me a real world example of how the structure will go together before construction.

The 3D model contains an absurd level of detail. Every truss, every paver, every nail is accounted for.
